Congregational Health
ALHWRS provides faith-based community nursing that practice wholistic health for self, individuals and the community using nursing knowledge combined with spiritual care. The focus of the work is geared on the intentional care of the spirit, assisting the members of the faith community and other faith-based organizations to maintain and/or regain wholeness in body, mind, and spirit.
Services Include:
- Assessment of congregation’s needs to incorporate an understanding of the relationship between faith and health.
- Identifies opportunities that enhance the understanding of the relationship of faith and health within the congregation.
- Provides individual or congregational health counseling related to health maintenance, disease prevention or illness patterns.
- Collaborates with pastoral staff to plan for health education programming.
- Prepares, develops and/or coordinates educational programing based on identified needs for healthier lifestyles, early illness detection and health resources.
- Provides consultation and acts as a health resource to staff of the congregation.
- Collaborates with community leaders and agencies to facilitate effective working relationships while identifying new health resources.
- Identifies, communicates, and works cooperatively with community leaders, elected officials, and agencies to meet health needs of members of the congregation and surrounding community.
